Free to find. HM Land Registry tells you who owns it.

The Brownfield Land Register tells you where the opportunities are — but not who owns them. That's on the HM Land Registry title. Questions

Brownfield land, explained

What is the Brownfield Land Register?
Every local planning authority in England must publish a register of previously-developed (brownfield) land it considers suitable for housing. It lists each site’s location, size and indicative housing capacity. We bring every council’s register onto one free map.
Is the Brownfield Land Finder free?
Yes — searching and browsing every brownfield site on the map is completely free. If you want to approach a site’s owner, you can order the HM Land Registry title register (which shows the registered owner) directly from HM Land Registry.
How do I find out who owns a site?
The register tells you the site and its ownership status, but not the owner’s name. The registered owner’s name and address are on the HM Land Registry title register — tap “Find out who owns it” on any site to order it directly from HM Land Registry.
Is the data official?
Yes — it comes straight from the Brownfield Land Register on planning.data.gov.uk (Open Government Licence). It’s an indicative sourcing tool; always confirm a site’s status with the council and your own due diligence before you act.
